Black-Blotched Stingray

Identification:
A large stingray with a circular disc and no thorns.
Black and white mottled back, and a white belly.
Deep ventral skin fold that extends to the tail tip.

Temperature range:
10 - 25 Celsius (50 - 77 Fahrenheit).

Typical location:
Everywhere from shallow lagoons to outer reefs.

Fishing methods:
Bottom fishing with live or dead crab, squid, shrimp or fish.

Fighting characteristics:
A delicate strike followed by a series of runs along the bottom.
These runs are often separated by short periods of time,
where the ray will burry itself under the sand on the bottom.
